Healing the heart through mitochondrial dynamics: a love-hate relationship

Sang-Bing Ong-Mitochondria-2018

Dr. Sang-Bing Ong will give presentation entitled "Healing the heart through mitochondrial dynamics: a love-hate relationship"  during the 9th World Congress on Targeting Mitochondria, which will be held at Steigenberger Hotel, Berlin on October 23-25, 2018.

Dr. Ong summarized his presentation as: "The cardiac mitochondria have been found to exist in a dynamic equilibrium between an elongated versus a fragmented state. Changes in mitochondrial dynamics govern cardiac cell fate. Modulating cardiac mitochondrial dynamics constitutes an emerging therapeutic strategy to protect the heart. Concerted efforts to further clarify the novel roles of mitochondrial dynamics in cardioprotection will facilitate the potential translation to bedside settings."
